No trip to St. Croix is complete without a trip to beautiful BuckIsland, the only underwater national park. Spend the day or a half-day on this uninhabited island, known for its fabulous snorkeling. "One of the world's best beaches" according to National Geographic, Buck Island is surrounded by aqua waters and extensive coral reefs.
See http://www.nps.gov/buis/index.htm Vendors offers a full-day and half-day sails to Buck Island, weather permitting, from The Buccaneer's dock exclusively for Buccaneer guests. The concierge is able to secure your reservations.
For the novice or expert, St. Croix is a diver's paradise. Scuba Diving magazine recognized St. Croix for its famed scuba diving and snorkeling offerings in the Top 100 Readers Choice Awards, January-February 2009 issue. Among the destination's awards highlights include top wall diving, top shore diving, top snorkeling and top overall value. St Croix received six awards including "Top Dive Destinations in the Caribbean Atlantic".
There are more than 50 premium dive sites to choose from, including the wreck of the Rosamaria, the pier in Frederiksted, and a spectacular 13,000 foot drop-off on the north shore known as The Wall. St. Croix has the largest living reef of any Caribbean island. See www.stcroixscuba.com.
